Just delete this line from the fstab file. That should fix the issue.

Hello,
I have a doubt......i want my windows partitions not to automount at
start up(i have created entry in fstab).i have used the 'noauto'
option as well....but it still auto mounts....whats the reason for
that.....what shud i do?????

the fstab entry is shown below......

/dev/hda7 /media/hda7 vfat rw,users,noauto,sync,umask=000
0 0

when u used ubuntu 8.10 , as u said its not working may be that package is
corrupted

u should have tried with other DVD

any way , the procedure is same as u configured in ubuntu-8.1

thanks for your help. the links is helpful ..i have searched the same on google but was not able to find this links.
thank you so much,. i have done some manual partitions before, just for my
local PC but i asked because i have never done on a big HDD like this one.
i want to make clear that whether any ratio is to be maintained before
making partitions. can you suggest me a size for /var and /home..?

Dear all,
Iam planning to set up a web-server locally for my office and i got a
ubuntu 9.04 Cd with me.. but i have a doubt that if i install this version
whether there will be any problem with apache server beacuse previously 6
months back when i tried to install uduntu 8.1 in my local machine, Apache
server got some problems with that version and i was not able to rectify the
problem and i went for 8.04 and it worked perfectly. ..
on this machine i need
1. Apache,
2. Sendmail ,
3. ssl,
4. php5,
5. Mysql (php myadmin too)
as a must.. whether any of this package is incompatible with 9.04..? Is it
a good decision to go for this version (Ubuntu 9.04) ..? or do i need to use
8.04 itself..? Also can anyone help me to make manual partitions with my new

config is: 320 HDD,2GB RAM.
